Is there any update on release of the cardвЂ¦? I'm really excited to see all the networking products coming to market and starting to deliver on the dream of a completely networked system. I've been living in the product side of the AVB and Dante world for over 8 years now both here at PreSonus and at Avid. We're hoping to be able to tie our AVB and Dante offerings together in the future by using AES67 but we'll see how that develops. AVB works well for us as we grow our networking ecosystem and Dante gives us the broad interoperability with everything else. Yes, the Dante card includes both the primary and secondary ports for redundant connections. We're hoping to have this in early 2016 (just too much other stuff on the stack for the rest of this year). For the RM mixers we plan to turn on MIDI support with the ability to assign any parameter to the controls on a hardware controller. We are members of OSC but have not yet determined the best path forward for implementing open control into our platforms. Yes, UC Surface control will work alongside Dante on the same RJ45 connector. More flexibility for routing to these outputs is planned for a future release.

In UC Surface, open the channel settings (gear icon next to the name in the Fat Channel area) and you'll see buttons for Pre/Post.

You can choose for them to be pre Fat Channel or post Fat Channel. Routing directly to outputs is planned for a future update.ДЄll inputs are sent straight to the digital (Dante) outputs. It would need to come into a channel fist and that channel would need to be mixed to the desired output. There currently isn't a way to route a Dante input directly to an output. The RM mixer will present 52 sends and 34 returns via Dante. How does an RM32AI present itself to the Audinate control software? The Dante cards for our AI mixers will hopefully ship by the end of June if testing goes well. I'm looking forward to some lively discussion about what it can do.

With the (upcoming) release of the Dante card, the RM series can now start talking to the rest of the digital world, and it could do it over existing network hardware without upgrading to AVB-ready switches. I understand the implementation of AVB before Dante (those pesky licenses!), but unfortunately Dante has beaten AVB to the punch.at least for now. I can see the attraction for 'Hey, it can be a remote stage box for my other Presonus console', but I believe it can be so much more. It looks like an RM32AI could be a super-handy Dante I/O device (with a nifty built-in mixer!): 32 analog in/16 analog out is nothing to sneeze at, especially at this price point. The scope of Dante (and Dante users) is vast, and I'd love to see just how far you're willing to run with this football. I understand that I'm asking a lot of questions, and I'm sure that this post will lead to even more. Will there be primary and secondary RJ45s for connection to redundant network hardware (in the event of a switch failure)? Is there the potential for OSC (or other open protocol) control of the preamp gain? And for that matter, possibly mapping other functions within OSC to provide a 'way in' for custom hardware controllers? Will the UC Surface preamp and mix control application work alongside Dante Controller over the same CAT5 cable, or will there be separate RJ45 connections for Dante audio and network-based control? Which brings us to the output side: Are the 16 physical XLR outputs (and their DB25 mirror counterparts) always designated as mix outputs, or can they be addressed as direct outs? Which begs the question: Is the pickoff point selectable (pre-EQ/pre-fader/post-fader & mute)? If so, where? Must the signal travel over a mix bus (aux, mains, etc.) first? I see no provision in the iPad app for direct channel outputs, but it stands to reason that they'd be available to pick off for recording right after the head amps. Will we have direct access to input and output routing? For example, if I have four RM32AI units networked via Dante throughout a facility, will I be able to route Input Channel 1 of Device 1 directly to Output 13 of Device 4? I've read the current manual, downloaded the iPad app and played around for a while, but I find myself wondering: How does an RM32AI present itself to the Audinate control software? I'm a Dante user and I'm very comfortable dealing with large-channel-count routing matrices using F* RedNet and the proprietary R* Rocknet and M* AES50, and I'd like to know (specifically) what I/O can be accessed via Dante Controller.
